Watch room
During a protest, a legal team or an observatory wants to know who is filming, where, and whether someone needs help. The watch room gathers what is being filmed right now among the sessions your account can read: yours, those shared with you, witness contributions. It refreshes every 5 seconds while the page is shown.
It shows nothing more than what you can already read. To follow someone during the protest, they must tick you in their session and choose Immediate sharing (see New session): with "Reminders, then sharing", you only see the session when automatic sharing happens.
Alerts
A field alert or a duress code shows in red at the top of the page, with the time of the last images. I'll handle it tells the other members of the collective that someone is on it; Follow live opens the session.
The state of each phone
Each session in progress has a card, most urgent first:
- ALERT: an alert in the last half hour;
- silent: no segment for a minute while the session is in progress (network down, phone stopped, or worse);
- degraded network: the phone sends at 480p or less, or sound only;
- in progress, waiting (no footage yet), ended (closed less than 30 minutes ago).
The card also shows the time of the last segment, what is already safe, the number of phones and their last contact. The Positions map shows the last position of each phone that sends one; it only loads when you ask.
Following live
In a session in progress, Follow live plays the footage as it arrives. The delay shown is the upload delay plus a few seconds of buffer: around 5 to 10 seconds on a good network, much more when the network is saturated. On iPhone (MP4), live is not available: the session plays once closed.
